Christopher Walken There is this Dutch saying that (roughly translated) says: “tickle yourself because others won’t”. Basically it means you need to indulge yourself now and then doing somthing nice or buying yourself something cool. Well, yesterday I indulged myself indeed: I bought myself a couple of things. Most notably I bought myself the DVD ‘King of New York’ starring one of my favorite actors: Christopher Walken. And I bought the 3-DVD set of the famous 90’s TV-series ‘Bottom’ starring Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmonson. What a blast! I also bought a LED ‘mood-lamp’ that changes color randomly (really cool […]
Seriously
(censored) I can stand a lot of things. But a few things will tick me off. One of them is mass hysteria over things that are plain stupid. The thing that really ticks me of right now is all the Islamic people protesting and getting out of control over some stupid cartoons a Danish newspaper published last year. While Muslims worldwide are calling for a boycott of Denmark and any other nations whose press reprints the cartoons, Europeans are trying to stand up for Western principles of freedom of speech and not cave in to self-censorship in the name of […]
Spineless
PM Balkende: spineless jellyfish As was to be expected from our spineless Dutch politicians: they are about to agree on sending some Dutch soldiers over to the province Uruzgan in Afghanistan (come to think of it: not only are they spineless, they also have the mental capabilities and intelect of an amoebe). After debating a few days on the subject all government parties and the biggest opposition party (PvdA) have caved in under the international pressure and fear of losing face. Once again they defy the Dutch people who are against the sending of troops just as they were against […]
FATAL ERROR: BRAKES NOT FOUND – REBOOT NOW?
Ain’t that true Do you know that joke about Gates comparing the prices of computers with cars? I don’t think he ever really said it, but it is a welknown joke. Supposedly Gates said at a Comdex show: “If GM had kept up with the technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25.00 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon.” According to the joke GM responded to this with some remarks of their own (see the second part of this blog). But seriously now: according to Engadget Microsoft-powered Fiat’s (well, I guess they are not […]
To go, or not to go. That is the question..
sorry soldiers It has been the big debate for weeks now in The Netherlands, and I tried to avoid blogging about it, but it seems that this week the Dutch goverment (cabinet) will decide if they are going to send more troops to the province of Uruzgan in Afghanistan or not. The whole mission has become a major political issue since D66, one of the parties in the Dutch government, told they will not agree with another mission because they think its too dangerous. Off course the US is putting a lot of pressure on the Dutch government to agree […]
The Idiot
Dumbass I simply could not resist: sorry for that. But George W. Bush remains one of the dumbest presidents in the history. It is just stunning what you find on him when you just search the net a bit. Like the photo next to this text: Bush looks really intelligent when he tries to open a door not? Well I started digging a bit and I found some really funny stuff; both videos – mostly SNL (Saturday Night Live) stuff – and pictures. So I will dispense them in this article. Now, if your a bloody republican just follow this […]
Liar Liar
Bush: pathetic liar In december I wrote about the US becoming it’s own worst enemy because they seem to adopt the same questionable ethics as the so-called terrorists and rogue states they fight. Well, add two new chapters to the whole ‘I told you so’ book. First there is a huge scandal going on right now in Europe: a debate about covert CIA flights moving terrorist suspects to clandestine prisons in various locations on European soil. Supposedly the CIA also tortures the suspects there as well. Off course the US (Condoleeza Rice) denied such stories, but in way that leaves […]
Companies I want to work for
Google campus rulez.. Ok, ok I probably should stop raving about Google, but how cool can it get? ABC news has a segment about the Google campus (they don’t call it a ‘office’ of course), were they take a tour. Man, it sure brings back memories of the pre-9/11 hype in Europe as well. In fact it reminds me of my days at Netcast and Lost Boys were I had my share of the hype. Free food, drinks, cool company trips, weekly chair and table massages and let’s not forget the famous monthly ‘Lounge parties‘ (complete Thai food catering and […]
Funny movies galore…
Youtube: broadcast yourself In december I wrote about this cool website called YouTube. It allows you to upload any movie (up to 100mb) and converts it into a flashmovie, together with a player so you can embed it conveniently on your webpages or Blog. It is pretty cool and I have uploaded quite a few movies myself already. Among them some that I consider ‘classics’. So, if you like to relax a bit, I invite you to read on for this article and just watch the movies. Catch the Cat! Need some glasses?Cat Herders
Jackpot for Jobs
Jobs: Jackpot! And in other news today (or rather yesterday if you’re American): Disney buys Pixar from Apple’s Steve Jobs. The deal was rumoured for a while but it wasn’t confirmed until tuesday. Both companies have agreed to an ‘all-stock merger’ that will give Pixar shareholders 2.3 shares of Disney for each share they presently own in Pixar. It’s a deal valued at slightly more than $7.5 billion. Jobs will also get a chair in the board of directors: a fact that has some observers already tipping him to be Disney’s new chairman. One year ago Jobs and former Disney […]
