When US president Barack Obama announced the death of Osama Bin Laden (OBL) on national television, he claimed “justice has been done”. The question is of course: who’s justice? Certainly not justice by international standards. If you look at the way things unfolded, there are many questions one can raise with his course of action. In fact: in this case the “justice” that was served was nothing else but revenge. Revenge for 9/11 2001 and the ghost chase the US government was on since 9/11. Don’t get me wrong: I totally understand revenge and I don’t shed a tear about […]
Information wants to be free
Todays arrest of Julian Assange the infamous journalist, internet activist, whistleblower and WikiLeaks frontman, shows exactly why citizens of so called democratic countries should mistrust their governments. You don’t have to believe in conspiracy theories to see that this case is the perfect proof that the US Government will stop at nothing to keep their dirty secrets from leaking out. And somehow they have Sweden on their side: a very strange ally. Something extraordinary is going on. The allegations – that’s all they are right now – against Assange would normally never have lead to Interpol issuing an international arrest […]
Liberté, égalité, fraternité
For those that don’t speak French: the title of this post is based on the national motto of France (and Haiti) and means: “Liberty, equality, fraternity (brotherhood)”. The origins lie in the French Revolution (1789–1799) and I always found it a very nice motto. Men and women are all equal – regardless of age, race or country of origin. The reason I bring this up is that I was amazed to find out that in the USA there is no law that says you have to pay women an equal amount if they perform the same work as their male […]
Welcome to “Wildersland”
Today we are one step away from the worst government in Holland since 1940. A government kept hostage by a right-wing nut case who’s abject anti-Islam political agenda will divide our country, drive our citizens to the boiling point and make our country a prime target for lunatics. So what is going on then? On Saturday February 20th this year, our government fell, after arguments over the Dutch continuation of a military mission in Afghanistan in 2010. The four parties that formed the government up to that time, consisted of the CDA (Christian Democratic Appeal), VVD (People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy), […]
Election day
Tomorrow it’s election day in Holland. I have been voting since I was 18 (legal age to vote in Holland) and this is the first time in 25 years that I will not vote for the political party that I like, but I have to vote for the most likely political coalition I want and trust to be good for Holland. What? Yeah, that was what I was thinking too. But the reality for the 2010 elections is, that coalitions need to be formed to get a majority in parliament. And this election the voters are so divided that you […]
The Machete conspiracy
Four days ago I posted the new trailer for the new upcoming Robert Rodriguez movie called “Machete”. What looks like a harmless all action packed movie, is actually a call to racial violence and uprising by the Mexican population in the state of Arizona. The movie is going to cause widespread violence and a race war! Yeah right. And Santa Claus really exists…. Who comes up with this shit? Enter the twisted and paranoid world of Alex Jones, maker of movies such as “911: Road to Tyranny“, “Martial Law 9-11: Rise of the Police State” and “Fall of the Republic: […]
Obama tells it like it is
News sometimes trickles down kind of slow here in Holland, but this was a bit too good let it pass even though it happened a week ago. What is it that I would like to share here? Well, on Friday Jan. 29th Obama visited a House Republican retreat in Baltimore to answer questions from republicans in, what The Huffington Post calls “The Lions Den”. At the end of the session there was a Q&A session that wasn’t supposed to be broadcast, but the White House pressured the Republican party to bring the cameras in. And Obama got a sterling opportunity to […]
Without Rule of Law website launched
A new year marks a new beginning. Also for me personally, as I have taken on a new, personal project: starting Jan 1st 2010 I launched the “Without Rule of Law website: survival in WROL situations“. The last few years I have become more and more aware of the fact that “we”, the general public, take our comfortable lives for granted. The more we are surrounded by technology, the more we depend on it. It is a bit contradictory because I – for one – am a great “tech-head”. At the same time I try to imagine what life would […]
Above the Law
When people are talking about dictators, they usually live in countries far away like Africa or South-America. I’m talking about the likes of Hugo Chavez (Venezuela) and Robert Mugabe (Zimbabwe). What a lot of people do not realize is, that right here and now, we have a dictator in Europe as well. A dictator that got elected democratically, just like Hugo Chavez and Robert Mugabe once were elected. But a dictator nevertheless. I’m talking about president Silvio Berlusconi (73yrs) of Italy. Don’t get me wrong: I believe strongly in he fact that most countries (not all) get the government they […]
Capitalism US style: “dead peasant policies”
I’m stunned. There really is no limit to greed. It’s capitalism, US style. Michael Moore uncovered yet another great story about greed. In short: you take out a life insurance policy on people working for you. If they die, you cash in. Yeah, you read that right. Corporate America gambles on you dying and then making a profit out of it. Not your family will benefit, but that asshole boss you hated all the time. I guess if corporate America can do it, maybe the military can do it too. Let’s take out insurance on firefighters as well. No wait; cops! Seriously. […]
