XP service pack 2: pain in the ass

So we all know that Windows is inherent unsafe. If that isn’t bad enough, Microsoft keeps pushing their shitty updates down our throats. Well the next pain in the ass is called XP service pack 2. This newest patch required about 104mb to download (in my case) and took over 30 minutes to install on my 2.8ghz HT P4. Go figure! Not taking any chances with this service pack I made a backup of my harddisks first. So far so good. Now I have two more machines to go to install this too. Since one of them is my webserver, this […]

Sony Clié PEG-VZ90

“Wow”. Thats the right word to describe the new Sony PEG-VZ90 Clié organizer. This new wonder of technology has an OLED screen, build-in Wi-Fi, can play MPEG 4, MPEG 1 video, along with ATRAC 3 digital audio. Sony claims the VZ90 will play audio for 42 hours, with the display blank, and run for 18 days when used as a PDA. Off course: seeing is believing. Before you go running to the store: the bad news is, that since Sony has formally announced its decision to suspend Clié sales in the US and Europe, it seems unlikely we will see […]

Power outage, stormwatch

While half of Florida is peparing for Ivan the Terrible to strike, I had my own power outage today. When I got home from work, I was groping in a dark hallway. One look into my study reveiled what I had noticed around 3pm today: no power. After I switched my power back on with the flick of a switch, it became clear to me that it must have gone off right after 3pm or so. I was listening to my iLounge radio at my work, but suddenly the music stopped. I couldn’t connect anymore and now I know why. […]

King Cruise

I guess most men (not all) share some enthousiasm about cars, and by now you should now I’m no exception to that rule. So today I went to the King Cruise event. Boy, there were a lot of cool Yanks there. Some of them looked like they fit in a museum, others like they belowged at the scrapheap. Anyway, for a nice look at some photos take a peak at my regular photo album, or the 3D version (Dutch instructions). Blog you later!

Under the weather

Suddenly, after 3 weeks of recordbreaking rainfall, it’s warm and sunny again. A sudden Indian Summer. But who’s feeling under the weather? Right, me, myself and I. It started yesterday morning, shortly after I got to work. My throat started hurting and my head was pounding. For me clear signs of a outbreak of flu. My girlfriend, supportive as she is, started stating on the phone: “Well honey, it seems that you get sick a lot like that, maybe there is something else wrong?”. Well the reality of it is, that the last time I was really sick, is more […]

Airport

Suddenly old 70’s songs get more popular and are getting used more frequent for several commercials. One of them is actually a very good choice: they use this song for the KPN Mobile commercials. Anyway, the reason I put it up here is because the song describes my feelings whenever I fly home after visiting my baby. Off course the lyrics are not that accurate, but it is just the feeling I get from it. Airport (The Motors) So many destinations faces going to so many places Where the weather is much better And the food is so much cheaper. […]

Summer is over

Besides the fact that today the summer officially ended, its also a fact that August 2004 was the wettest month (in Holland) sind 52 years. We have had unusual weather actually: we had a small tornado (we call it a “Windhoos”), hailstorms and lots of rain. May started out as a cold and wet month. In June and July however, we had an official heatwave. But just as I wanted to buy a A/C it stopped and it started to rain. And rain… And rain… It just so happens that during this month we had a lot of outdoor stuff […]

Time to move on

With the Republican convention in progress in NYC, the democrats are moving forward with their Move On campaign. Real people telling their real opinions about Bush. Off course I’m not an American, but if I was one, I would be a democrat for sure.
