Windows 7 GodMode
Windows 7

Here’s a nice tweak that I didn’t know about: apparently some Microsoft developers have a God complex when it comes to their OS. Hence the “Windows 7 GodMode tweak”. If you’re a hardcore Windows user this is probably old news for you, but I just stumbled upon this today  and I can confirm it works rather nice.

So what does it do? Well it provides a single place to access all your Windows 7 (both 32 and 64bit) settings without you needing to browse options and folders in the Control Panel. Very handy because you can get lost pretty easy in all the stuff you can configure or tweak.

According to many this trick should also work on Windows Vista – but apparently only on the 32bit versions (on 64bits it might  screw your system up). As always with Windows tweaks: use it with caution.

Anyhow: here is how it works:

  1. Create a new folder.
  2. Rename the folder to:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

You can change the “GodMode” text, but the following period and code number are essential).

The folder icon will change — double click it to show the GodMode window:

Tweak away!

  1. Damn, bro even I, a Mac dude did know of this trick, and used it in my virtualization setup (parallels). Next time I’ll e-mail you about it!
