Sad – but not unexpected – news when I woke up this morning: Steve Jobs has died at the age of 56. A month after leaving Apple permanently, one day after the iPhone 4S was announced and just a few weeks before his (authorized) autobiography will come out. Regardless what you think you know about the man: he changed the industry and the world. Yes, I can say that without sounding dramatic. Just take a look around next time you commute from home to work. How many Apple products do you see around you? How many brands you know that […]
Android it is
After considering my options for a long time, I finally decided what I am going to get in terms of a new phone. Knowing that a new iPhone is probably around the corner and knowing that there are many new Android phones coming out right now as well, it had to be a compromise of some sort. So I opted for a one year contract instead of two year contract (T-Mobile Flex +Internet) and ordered myself a HTC Desire HD. Yup: I opted for Android – again. Biggest reason for me to do so: it’s a whole lot cheaper than an […]
Chuck Norris eat your heart out!
Man, you have to see this to believe it. Maybe this is Chuck Norris’s mother?
Chocolate cake, Gameboy and Lauren Holly
How come this never happened to me 😉 (Answer: when I was this age there where no Gameboys, chocolate cake was not my favorite food and Lauren Holly was only 4 years older then me).
Darth Vader robs bank: “I find my lack of money… Disturbing.”
Now here is something you don’t see every day: a guy (at least we think it’s a guy) robs a bank in Long Island (NY) dressed as… Darth Vader. What? Yeah, I laughed at it as well. Makes you wonder: is Darth Vader trying to rebuild his Death Star? According to anonymous sources, Darth Vader explained himself to the bank employee saying: “I find my lack of money… Disturbing.” 🙂 Darth Vader really must have been low on cash: his getaway vehicle was a bicycle instead of a Tie Fighter. Anyway, here is a video report on the whole deal.
Damn, I’m converted
Ok, <insert confession mode here> this is a big step for me, but I confess that I have been converted. I just saw the new iPhone 4 revealed by Apple CEO Steve Jobs as only he can do. It’s gorgeous – and – I want one. There, I said it. I want an iPhone. Finally iPhone is  up to par – and now even trend setting – feature-wise – with other phones. They finally added multitasking (my phones did that 4 years ago already) and a front cam (both my Nokia E71 and HTC Diamond Pro have that already). But also a gyroscope, dual-mic […]
Minority report
Back in 2004 and 2005 I did some presentations at my work about the future of print. In my presentation I used many examples from the 2002 movie Minority Report. In that movie many futuristic gadgets where shown and 8 years later a lot of them are actually working. I strongly believe that digital will replace anything analogue. E-paper is one of the new media. But we all want color and not just black & white. Well, Sony is now showing off a OLED rollable display prototype that look promising. I can imagine many useful purposes for such a device. For instance, […]
Navigate with The Force
This is just out: you too can now navigate the road that lies ahead using The Force 🙂 Beside the familiar voice of Darth Vader, TomTom wil also release the voices of C-3PO, Yoda and Han Solo. Man, I laughed my ass off watching the video 😉 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ljFfL-mL70
AC/DC vs Iron Man 2
This summer May, Iron Man 2 is coming out. I loved the first one and the second one looks like a killer action movie too. Especially because I got turned of by that wimp of a Peter Parker in the Spiderman movies. The Australian rock band AC/DC are doing some of the soundtrack for Iron Man 2 and by way of promotion, they gave this really cool light show in England. Well, actually more of a “projection show”. Aw, you’ll just have to watch the awesome video below. Amazing what you can do with technology and a creative mind. I […]
Sound Surroundings
It’s been a long time since I have been impressed with a Dutch music band, but when I saw and heard “The Q4” (also known as “The Quadraphonic Quartet”) on the Dutch daily show “De Wereld Draait Door” (aka DWDD) I knew I had to get my hands on their music. The Q4 produces some of the best trip-hop/nu-jazz I’ve ever heard, and is one of my favorite 2010 releases. I have been playing them for a few days now and I still am impressed with their style and laid-back sound. It was cool to see them show their creative […]
