Seems like all I do right now is post video’s on my Blog. And here’s another one.
Our shooting club got an invitation from the Police shooting club in Amsterdam (APGS). So we headed over to their range where we learned a bit about how the Dutch police train their cops for stuations where deadly force with a gun is applied. It was quite a new experience – except for those from our club that do actionshooting. Normally I never kneel, shoot around an object or act like I’m defending myself and aim for the legs (I shoot at a dull looking bullseye). Heck, we never wear a holster with handcuffs and pepperspray either, or shoot double action.
Long story short; it wasn’t easy and my score was below average (as you can see at the end). If I was a cop I would have failed the test miserably. So on one hand I gained more respect for Dutch cops ast they have to pass all tests (with a stopwatch ticking), on the other hand I was bit shocked to find out Dutch cops only go to the range 4 times a year to do a shooting test. In contrast: when a Dutch individual owns a (hand)gun you need to go to the shooting range and it shoot it at least 18 times a year in order to keep your gun permit. Somehow that strikes me as odd.
