Demon: Die! Die!

Ok, so I have a LONG weekend because of Easter right? So off course I will do the usual Easter related stuff: have brunch with my family, watch some movies etc. etc. And – and this is something I was looking forward too – do some serious online gaming (Soldiers of Fortune 2 – still my favorite), download some music, movies etc… I even had some stuff in my queue to download (couple of movies etc..) So last night (actually this morning), I talked to my girlfriend until 4am. I wake up at 10am and decide to check my mail. Hmm, my Skype icon said: ‘connecting’ – not a good sign! And yes, wouldn’t you know it: my ADSL connection is dead! %@##^!%$ !!!!! Wtf! By looking at my log file I could see that my connection had been gone since 8:35am. That is the second time in some weeks now. And the really bad part: because it is a holiday weekend the whole fricking support department at Demon.nl has the weekend off! That’s right: if nobody notices this, it might be Tuesday before everything is up & running again! Now, I do have a little backdoor connection making it possible for me to dial-up via ISDN to XS4ALL.NL (the first Internet provider in the Netherlands) and off course I tried to see what was wrong, so I did a trace-route:

Traceroute zion.demon.nl
traceroute to zion.demon.nl (82.161.18.197), 64 hops max, 44 byte packets

Yup, it looks like a dead router allright. Thats why I’m not getting my IP address. Off course pinging myself doesn’t work either…

PING zion.demon.nl (82.161.18.197): 56 data bytes

Great! Just what I need: Easter without Internet… Oh well, at least I can check my mail through dial-up…

Curse on you Demon!

*update:* at 11:45am my line came up again. Apparantly someone got of his ass at Demon and restarted something.
