Ressurection

Soooo, after neglecting this blog for a few years while trying some other webhosts and never investing enough time in it, I decided to pick things up again here. As you will notice, all the going back and forth between other webhosts, had led to me loosing all my images from older posts. As it goes I made a backup, but that backup only had links to the images & illustrations and not the actual items. I’ll need figure out how to handle that, but hey – at least my thoughts are still there. I’ll probably integrate my Twitter feed and […]

Steve Jobs (1955 – 2011) – “Think Different”

Sad – but not unexpected – news when I woke up this morning: Steve Jobs has died at the age of 56. A month after leaving Apple permanently, one day after the iPhone 4S was announced and just a few weeks before his (authorized) autobiography will come out. Regardless what you think you know about the man: he changed the industry and the world. Yes, I can say that without sounding dramatic. Just take a look around next time you commute from home to work. How many Apple products do you see around you? How many brands you know that […]

Obama tells it like it is

News sometimes trickles down kind of slow here in Holland, but this was a bit too good let it pass even though it happened a week ago. What is it that I would like to share here? Well, on Friday Jan. 29th Obama visited a House Republican retreat in Baltimore to answer questions from republicans in, what The Huffington Post calls “The Lions Den”. At the end of the session there was a Q&A session that wasn’t supposed to be broadcast, but the White House pressured the Republican party to bring the cameras in. And Obama got a sterling opportunity to […]

Hope for Haiti telethon vs Holland Helps Haiti

Ok, what is wrong with this picture? €83 million euros equals $117 million dollars. That’s the amount of money raised in Holland with a the Holland Helps Haiti telethon this Thursday Jan. 21st. This Friday, there was a telethon in the USA (and some other countries) organized (among others) by actor “George – do good – Clooney”. The telethon was aired simultaneously on more than 25 networks, including CNN. So far that show raised… $58 million dollars… What? That must be wrong? Let me get this straight: Holland with only 17 million people, raises $117 million dollars and the US (and other countries) […]

Death to newspapers!

I love Holland, but we sure do have some insane people politicians with the dumbest ideas you can think of. Today was a prime example. Some time ago a commission of wise men decided to examine the future of Dutch newspapers. As we all know there is an economic crisis going on and this hits every part of our society. Newspapers suffer because they lose money on advertising. Most companies spend their marketing budget on other media or a different media mix; they go where their target audience is. And guess what: their target audience no longer reads newspapers. Besides […]
