This summer May, Iron Man 2 is coming out. I loved the first one and the second one looks like a killer action movie too. Especially because I got turned of by that wimp of a Peter Parker in the Spiderman movies. The Australian rock band AC/DC are doing some of the soundtrack for Iron Man 2 and by way of promotion, they gave this really cool light show in England. Well, actually more of a “projection show”. Aw, you’ll just have to watch the awesome video below. Amazing what you can do with technology and a creative mind. I […]
Steven Seagal: Lawman (2)
Last November I wrote about over-the-hill action star Steven Seagal (58 in April) getting his own reality show: Steven Seagal: Lawman on A&E. I downloaded some episodes for my own entertainment and concluded that it is a cop show with a minimum of action. Nevertheless: somehow the series premiere drew 3.6 million viewers, ranking as best season opener for any original A&E series ever. As I wrote, Seagal has been a deputy sheriff of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana for 20 years where he owns a second home. That must account for the fact that despite being born in Lansing, Michigan, has adopted […]
Sound Surroundings
It’s been a long time since I have been impressed with a Dutch music band, but when I saw and heard “The Q4” (also known as “The Quadraphonic Quartet”) on the Dutch daily show “De Wereld Draait Door” (aka DWDD) I knew I had to get my hands on their music. The Q4 produces some of the best trip-hop/nu-jazz I’ve ever heard, and is one of my favorite 2010 releases. I have been playing them for a few days now and I still am impressed with their style and laid-back sound. It was cool to see them show their creative […]
2012 a distaster (of a) movie
I just saw the new Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow) movie “2012” and I just couldn’t resist blogging about it. So what do I have to say about it? Well, if you are into special effects, this is your movie. In fact it is the mother load of all special effects. Ninety nine point nine percent of the movie is about special effects. Should you expect something else from a movie that is about the end of the world? I guess not. Now, there have been many movies – also by Roland Emmerich – that deal with some catastrophe that […]
Steven Seagal: Lawman
Ok folks. This had me laughing out loud. Has been action-hero Steven Seagal (57) is getting his own reality show. As it turns out Seagal has been a deputy sheriff of his home community, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana for 20 years. Supposedly he was on active duty in between all the films he shot and the US TV-network A&E picked up on that. Last year announced they begun filming “Steven Seagal: Lawman“, a reality show that follows Seagal’s on- and off-duty work in the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. From the previews you can already see that there is hardly any real […]
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: Semper Fi
Back on my feet again after that nasty A/H1N1 hit me. But enough of that. Thursday night I downloaded Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Now, I am a great fan of the previous installment of the game (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare), but I skipped Call of Duty 5 (“World at War”) as it was set again in the Second World War. COD4 to this day remains the game I play the most (multi-player). Before that I played SOF2 (Soldier of Fortune 2) almost religiously and I even was in a “clan” for a while. Anyway: the single player storyline of […]
What is a browser?
Ok guys, I was pretty much amazed when I saw this video, showing people fail on a huge scale when asked: “what is a browser”. Flabbergasted is actually more like it. It’s like people not knowing the answer to the question: “what is an engine”? This video shows people trying to come up with an answer. There is actually a Dutch version of this video as well (crappy), shot in Rotterdam and it shows exactly the same result. Sorry, how can millions of people use a browser, but not know what it actually is? Well to answer the question: a […]
Movie pastime
One of my favorite pastime activities is watching movies. Granted, I hardly go to the movie theater anymore. In this day and age I get my stuff “on-demand” (read: usenet). Now, one of my favorite activities besides watching movies, is watching the trailers for movies. I think it is fun and helps build the anticipation. The trick to a good trailer is obviously to build the anticipation and make you go “I really want to go see that movie”. If I think of good trailers from the last years/decades (yeah, I’m over 40). Then a few pop into my mind as really […]
