This is going to be a long blog I guess 😉
I’m a real tech junkie. If new software comes out or an updated version of software I have installed, I got to have it. For instance: yesterday I noticed that a new version came out of Apache2Triad, which is a apache2 webserver bundle that is working out of the box and contains:
- SERVERS: Apache2 ,MySQL ,OpenSSL ,Xmail , SlimFTPd
- LANGUAGES: PHP ,Perl ,Python ,TCL
- SCRIPTS: Apache2CP, PHPmyadmin ,PHPXMail , PHPSftpD + AWStats , SSLCert , Xmail Queue Manager etc.
It’s this configuration that actually runs this webserver you are on right now. And more important: its the configuration that also runs my Radio Zion (together with the Sam2 software).
So when I saw that version 1.3 was out and I was running 1.2.2 I had to have the new version 😉
Anyway, to cut a long story short, it had me up till 02:00am (cause I had to de-install and then reinstall and configure it) but its running smooth as a an be right now. I”m currently tinkering around with the logfiles and such, but all in all its seems to be running ok.
Spyware
Just finished reading an interesting article about spyware and what it does to your computer. I have to say that spyware, at least in it’s most annoying form, is stricly a Windows Internet Explorer problem. Unix/Linux and Apple OS X do not have these problems (well, unless you think that the many ‘phone home’ programs (that contact the programmer to let him know how much you use the software) are spyware too.
When you use Windows on your computer, you better make damn sure you have the right protection (firewall, antivrus, anti-spyware) before you even go out there to surf.
In short:
(…)”I’ll say this: I discovered that as far as the adware/spyware industry is concerned, you may be the one that plunked down a grand at your local consumer electronics store to purchase your PC, but THEY own it. They’ll do whatever they want, whenever they want, and you don’t get a say in the matter. The utter “ballsy-ness” of what they do will astonish you, and I hope reading this might make some of the people enabling this sort of activity to wake up and take action.”(…)
More weather
Pff it’s still tropical here in Holland and it’s not going to change for a while I guess. One of my computers (the AMD 1.33ghz Ahtlon) started to shut down on its own because the CPU got too hot. I fixed that by putting my fan close too it and now it seems to be fine again. Right now it’s about 85 in my house and I hope it is going to cool down a bit…
Lincoln Continental Mark V
Ok, besides computers and my girlfriend Carrie, I have one more obsession: cars. In particular American cars. Carrie doesn’t like American cars a lot, in fact she drives a Toyota (very reliable cars indeed). But I have been admiring American cars for some time. And the ultime ride for me is the Lincoln Continental Mark V. In fact I have been looking for a nice one for some time now. Well I found one online. More about it in the next blog.
