So I returned from Florida. I had a pretty weird journey back. When I left from Tallahassee I had these two drama queens sitting next to me in the plane. One of them was terrified of flying and having a nervous breakdown. So I think: hey, I hate flying too, but if you’re this terrified, take a damn bus or train!

Now, the second half of my journey started of bizarre too. Right after take-off this chick sitting behind me exploded in a wild vomit splash-like way. Jezus! No warning there! Right during take-off. A second I thought someone just sneezed or opened a soda can that exploded. But jeez, it was just plain vomit. She hit me in the neck a bit but lucky me: I was wearing a cap. Anyway, it smelled damn awful.

So finally I get to Schiphol, jump in a cab – a rip-off at 90 Euro’s!! – and get safely home. The first day I take a quick nap (3 hrs), everything fine. Next day (tuesday on wednesday) I could not sleep! I stayed up till 5am in the morning. Then my sister calls at about 11am or so. Wakeup call I guess.

To make a long story a bit shorter: I have had the worst jetlag so far. It took me all this week to get over it. I hope I can sleep tonight because I start working again tomorrow.

Restructuring my network

Ok, so I had some time this week so I decided to restructure my network. I bought a Linksys NSLU2 network storage thingy that turns my Maxtor OneTouch 250gb external harddrive into a NAS (network attachted storage). Sounds like a good thing right? Well, not alltogether.

There are a few pesky downsides to attaching a USB disk to the NSLU2. First you need to format the damn thing. Yes, that’s right: format it. So if you have any data on it, you’re screwed because you have to copy it back to another device. For some damn reason it takes all day to do that! It is awfull slow. I mean: USB 1.1 slow.

Also the device is formatted in EXT/3 which is a Linux format! For crying out loud: why not Fat32 or NTFS? So after you attach it to the NSLU2 you can not attach it back to a Windows PC without – you guessed it – formatting it again. Jeez Louise!

Anyway: I managed to take all the hurdles and now I migrated my iLounge music to that disk so I no longer have to worry about rebooting my PC and loosing connection to my music folder. I just hope the thing is stable enough cause I have my server and all on 24×7.

Last but not least: I also installed a new Blogging tool onto my server: Serendipity. I intend to use it as a alternative to blogger.com. Anyway: for now I use both blogging tools. Just check it out at my zion.demon.nl site.

Ok, a lot of bs here. Time for me to get dressed and hit the road to visit my sister.

Blog you later!
