Ok, folks, usually I try to avoid politics in my webblog, but once again, George Bush has succeeded in making another horrifying decision. I am talking about the Schiavo case. Bush signed an emergency law that – in effect – keeps this seriously brain-damaged woman alive (probably against her own will, and certainly against her husbands will). If anything else, this clearly demonstrates Bush’s lack of respect for the so-called “Trias Politica” principle. And, in my humble opinion, it marks a new era of politics, or should I say: “dictatorship”.

If there is one thing that distinguishes the western democratic societies from others – let’s say some Islamic countries – it’s the fact that we keep a strict separation between the executive, legislative and judicial branches. Basically this prevents any person or group from gaining too much power – also known as “dictatorship“.

Unfortunately we all know that Bush has no brain and he obviously never heard about this principle. But to top things off: the whole House of Representatives (also known as “His Masters Voice” ) agreed with this law and passed it without any hestitation. Bush said in a statement: “In cases like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favour of life.”

Hell no Mr. Bush! Since when can you decide for me!? Clearly in this case where about 18 judges have looked at this case and all finally agreed that Terri herself probably would have wanted to have her husband to pull the plug, it is ludicrous to decide otherwise. Off course it was just some political statement from Bush towards his Christian right wing voters. But to them I can only say that loving someone sometimes means letting that person go!

The hypocrisy is amazing. Bush will authorise court-ordered death-row killings but defend this person’s life after yet another decision by the courts. It is sad that all the pro-life groups are also selective in who they campaign to save. If they are Christian surely they should follow the Bible and let their God be the judge and not kill prisoners.

I mean for $%#&&!** sakes: even animals get treated better when they should die in a “humane” way!
