Folks, I have to confess: I’m getting sick and tired of the weather here. It is like nature is taking a piss on us. First we had an absolutely record breaking July: the hottest July in Holland in 300 years! That is since 1706 when we started to keep track of the weather here in Holland. We had two heatwaves back to back and it was just too much. As a result we had more old folks dying than normally is the case and farmers where complaining about their crops getting wasted. In short: everyone was bitching about how hot it was (including myself). Well, in August we sure did get what we asked for: rain, rain and rain. August 2006 turned out to be the wettest month in a hundred years. I am not kidding you: we had torrential rains, even small tornadoes (we call those “waterhoos” because they usually start and stay above water). Anyway: I hope the bad weather is over and we get a little bit of an ‘Indian summer’ in September.
Let it rain
