Steven Seagal: Law Man

: Law Man

Last November I wrote about over-the-hill action star Steven Seagal (58 in April) getting his own : Steven Seagal: Lawman on A&E. I downloaded some episodes for my own entertainment and concluded that it is a cop show with a minimum of action. Nevertheless: somehow the series premiere drew 3.6 million viewers, ranking as best season opener for any original A&E series ever.

As I wrote, Seagal has been a of  Jefferson Parish, Louisiana for 20 years where he owns a second home. That must account for the fact that despite being born in Lansing, Michigan, has adopted a very thick southern accent and started talking like the indigenous people. He probably figured “when in Rome…” But in doing so it looks like he dropped like 50 IQ points – which is about what he should loose in pounds. Although its fair to say that when you watch the series he actually just blends in with the fat, puffy donut eating of Jefferson Parish.

I think shock-jockey Howard Stern said it best — “he can teach you how to do everything but run like a real man”. And it’s true: Seagal walks like a man, but runs like a sissy. The best proof Seagal is over the hill is the fact that all of the films he has made since the second half of 2001, have been released direct-to-.

Anyhow: the reason I’m coming up with this story (again) is because Dutch TV station RTL7 has caught on to his reality show and as of today is airing it. So if you want to see a cop show that has a minimum of action tune in to RTL7 at 22:30 on Mondays nights and enjoy. I admit: Steven is one big mofo at 6’4″ (1.93m).

Oh, and here is another clip from the show.
