Google road kill view
Man I laughed hard at this news from The Register. Apparently the folks driving around the planet in order to bring you the cool - but much debated - Google Street View, do not adhere to the companies motto "do no evil". At least not in this case.
As it turns out the Street View car driving around in the woods near Five Points Rd, Rush, New York, managed to kill Bambi while documenting the neighborhood. Off course people run down and kill or mame innocent animals every day, all over the world. But not many of them document it themselves and publish it on the web.
So after some outrage about the tragic incident (it looks like the Street View car didn't even swerve), Google pulled the images from the net. Lucky for us 'thrill seekers', nobody escapes the collective memory of the web: there's always someone out there taking a screenshot and publishing it elsewhere (see link above).
Anyway: it's not the first time Google had to pull some images from Street View (and I predict not the last time). They also 'scrubbed' the image of a woman taking a pee behind a car in the middle of Madrid (Spain). Well, at least she had the decency to squat in the gutter and not the sidewalk, just like we teach our four-legged pets.
What can I say: I just love Google!
